Sylvan Squares     St Timothy’s UMC

1020 Asheville Hwy., Brevard
Sylvan Squares is looking forward to a great second half of 2016 filled with friendship and fun dancing. We have national caller Ted Kennedy calling for us on August 12, 2016; Marty Northrop will be calling our Anniversary Dance on October 28, 2016; and Jim Duncan will be calling our Annual Santa Sashay on December 9, 2016.

Mainstream classes will begin September 19th and run on every Monday evening through December 19th from 7 – 9 PM. We have recently changed the format of the half-hour workshop before each of our dances. Every workshop will teach the dancers several new starting formations (applications) for one or two Mainstream calls. Some of this new material will then be incorporated into all of the tips for that evening’s dance, so the dancers will be able to have “live experience” dancing these different applications. So if you are planning to join us at one of our dances, please try to also attend the workshop.

Our regular dances are the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month. The workshop starts at 6:30 PM followed by our dance from 7 – 9 PM. We look forward to having you join us!

High Mountain Squares – Franklin, NC

Excitement has grown with the three classes HMS has provided since the fall of 2015. A total of 20 students have graduated, and 14 have joined the club! With winter weather, illness and general lack of interest in January and February, the club decided to host only two new classes in 2016. The fall class begins on September 12 with Jim Duncan instructing the twelve-week course. The spring class will begin in early March.

High Mountain Squares dance every first, third, and fifth Fridays when we have round and line dancing.   There are a couple of exceptions to our meeting place during the year when our building is not available to us. We dance mostly at Macon County Rec Park on Highway 441. One exception on July 29 is our Anniversary Dance where we will be dancing with Jerry Biggerstaff at Trinity Church, 6971 Highway 441 near Otto. Please join us in our celebration 6:15-8:45!

We truly appreciate our callers and all of our visitors!
