The federation was formed in 1980 to promote the activity of square and round dancing in Western North Carolina and to provide a common bond among the dancers of this area. We provide special dances called by national or regional callers that individual clubs might not be able to afford.  These are usually held on the fifth Saturday of the month. We strive to promote mutual cooperation among the clubs in matters such as dance scheduling, visitation (banner stealing), class scheduling, and student dances.

Upcoming 2015 Federation Dances Callers

Hospice Dance

October 4, 2015, 2-5 pm Pride RV Resort   – map Our club callers donate this time to support this fun-filled, worthwhile dance! All proceeds support our local Hospice facilities. We contributed over $5,000 to area Hospice organizations last year. Let’s beat that this year!

Thanks to all who have purchased Raffle tickets. We will have gift baskets contributed by our clubs. Some will be won in a special raffle. Tickets available at the dance. We will also have a silent auction, featuring many handcrafted items (including art bowls by Jerry Hayward). Also available: a week in May at a large Kitty Hawk, NC beach cottage. Susan & Steve Garwood have donated a Pfaff Sewing Machine, model Expression 2034.

Pisgah Promenaders’ major auction item is a very generous donation by watercolor artist Pamela Haddock of Sylva. Pam is a well-known regional artist whose has work is featured in many galleries. The piece she donated is titled “Closer to the Stars”. It is a watercolor on Illustration Board. It is matted and framed measuring 31×41.  It retails for $1500. Minimum bid is $500. We are thrilled by this most generous donation! Please feel free to contact Barbara Klerlein <bklerlein2@gmail.com> if you need more info or have questions.

This is a very good thing the square dance community does each year. Your support does make a difference.
